With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many questioned whether the EU would abandon its ambitious climate plans under Fit-for-55 plan. In May, the EU decided to intensify its efforts to decarbonise and make itself independent from Russian energy as a response to global warming and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
